Rules and Regulations

These are the rules that keep the school running predictably — how absence is handled, what a student wears, what may not be brought to campus, and what the school asks of parents. They apply to every family, and we ask that they are read before the session begins.

01Attendance and leave

How absences, leave and long absence are handled.

  1. Any absence, even for a single day, must be covered by a leave application addressed to the Principal.
  2. If an absence extends beyond three days, a medical or official certificate must be submitted.
  3. A child with an infectious illness should be kept at home. A medical certificate and a fitness certificate are required on return.
  4. Students absent for ten consecutive days without prior permission may have their names removed from the register. Re-admission depends on a vacancy and payment of the admission fee.
  5. Prior permission from the Principal is required for any planned leave, except in unforeseen circumstances.
  6. Students in Classes IX to XII absent for more than three days must meet the Principal, Vice-Principal or Coordinator with their parents on the day they return.
  7. Long leave for marriages, holidays or family functions is discouraged and granted only with the Principal’s approval. Leave should not coincide with school holidays.

02Uniform

What is required, and what may not be altered.

  1. Every parent is required to purchase two sets of the school uniform.
  2. The uniform may not be altered — narrowing the fit or changing the waist size is not permitted. An altered uniform must be replaced at the parent’s cost.

03Examinations

The assessment schedule, and what a student must clear to sit the boards.

  1. Students must attend and pass every examination conducted through the year — periodic tests, unit tests, the half-yearly and annual examinations, and class revision tests.
  2. As per CBSE rules, students in Classes X and XII must pass all pre-board examinations to be eligible for the board examination.

04Electronics and valuables

What should be left at home, and why.

  1. Mobile phones, music players, pen drives and similar devices are not permitted. If found, they will be confiscated and will not be returned.
  2. In an emergency, a student may ask the coordinator for permission to use the school office telephone.
  3. Photography, recording and any electronic communication device are not permitted on campus.
  4. The school does not encourage the use of social media by students, and misconduct through social media is treated seriously.
  5. Expensive items — watches, fountain pens, gold or silver jewellery, friendship bands or large sums of money — should not be brought to school. The school is not responsible for items lost.
  6. Jewellery such as chains, rings, bangles and bracelets is not permitted during school hours. Small earrings or studs are allowed. Religious symbols should be discreet.

05Sport

Physical education is part of the timetable, not an extra.

  1. Every student must choose one sport — badminton, cricket, fencing or taekwondo — and take part in it through the year.

06Parent responsibilities

What the school asks of families, so that home and school are working in the same direction.

  1. Supervise your child’s studies and take an interest in what happens at school.
  2. Sign the occasional reports teachers send home in the school diary.
  3. Attend parent-teacher meetings. Absence without excuse results in a deduction of 5 marks from the student’s next examination.
  4. Answer calls from the school, and inform the office in writing if your contact number changes.
  5. Report any change of address or telephone number to the school in writing without delay.
  6. When writing to the Principal, Vice-Principal or Coordinator, include your child’s class, section and SR number.
  7. Meet teachers only after fixing an appointment through the school diary.
  8. Contribute to the annual function fund as directed by the Principal.
  9. Participation in the annual function, sports events and other activities is expected of both parents and students. An unexcused absence carries a fine of Rs. 200.
