Badminton

Badminton, on court and in competition

Badminton is one of the four sports a student can choose, played on courts with proper flooring and lighting, with coaching that runs from the first grip to smash placement.

01

Technique

Grip, footwork, serve, clear, drop, smash and net play — the whole vocabulary of the game, built in that order.

02

Tactics

Shot selection, court positioning and reading an opponent, which matters more in badminton than raw power.

03

Fitness

Agility drills, shadow practice and stamina work, because badminton is quick bursts of movement in every direction.

04

Match play

Singles and doubles with coach feedback, so a student learns to play a match rather than only to practise shots.

05

Tournament preparation

The school hosts the Inter-House Badminton Championship, where players from all four houses compete in singles and doubles. For many students this is their first competitive match.

Badminton is one of four sports offered — the others are cricket, fencing and taekwondo. Parents are welcome to watch a session on a working day.
